The power of CO2 for cristallizing TPA from PET

Introducing a groundbreaking achievement in the ENZYCLE project: We’ve harnessed the power of CO2 to successfully crystallize TPA from PET hydrolysed solutions, all without the need for any pre-purification steps. Witness the future of sustainability as we send our first solid batch to INDORAMA for re-polymerization, paving the way for the very first bottle made from recycled TPA.

At the heart of this milestone are the ENZYCLE partners who worked together an enzymatic solution for PED degradation and made use of FeyeCon’s ingenious CO2 process: the direct crystallization of TPA within the hydrolyzed solution, completely chemical-free. Through the ingenious application of CO2 at elevated pressures, we trigger the formation of carbonic acid (H2CO3), which naturally adjusts the solution’s pH and initiates TPA crystallization. This elegant and simple process requires no additional acids or chemicals, making it a true game-changer in the quest for eco-friendly solutions. Witness sustainability in action with ENZYCLE.
